Choosing A Domain Name

Brandable versus keyword domains. They both require very different marketing strategies. Whether one is better than the other is not the focus of this article, however. Keyworded domains have two major advantages in online marketing: they communicate to the visitor right away what the site is about and they are a huge benefit to search engine marketing.

Keyworded domain name. Search engines love keywords. Having a domain name that incorporates keywords into the name itself makes it magnet to the search engine, pumping up the site's potential search engine rank. Provided the site has original content to match the domain name, of course.

Example - A blog focusing on movie reviews would likely have a keyword-based domain such as "MovieReviewBlog" or "MovieBlog."

The challenge. Finding a keyworded domain name (2-3 words) that is relevant, easy to spell and remember. A good domain name does not guarantee success, but a keyword-based domain name can benefit your online search engine position.
